Happy Thanksgiving

from Hope (and Slade)

(and our token of appreciation below)

This year has been phenomenal for myself, Carolina Slade, and FundsforWriters. We traveled the country in person and online, making many appearances, learning as we went. We learned what readers like and don't like, what writers are struggling so hard to achieve, and that our covers are unanimously adored!

We learned that readers love Slade and at the same time want to throttle her neck for her silly stupid choices. But they always come around on her side, applauding her dare-devil efforts to remain loyal to family and friends. Many readers said they reached the end of chapters and HAD to turn the page, with many admitting to looking up amazed to see dawn (or missing a day of work, my favorite). We never tire hearing that!

And we learned that FundsforWriters is revered by so many as a resource tool as well as a motivational guide by writers seeking to earn a living at this difficult craft we love so deeply.

Before I announce how we'd like to thank all of you, I must shoot out a shout of thanks to the following people who helped make my writing life possible:

You . . . the readers, the buyers of my books, the new fans of Carolina Slade, the subscribers to FundsforWriters. My world revolves around you, my friends. You make this happen.

My husband . . . his name is Gary, but he's often mistaken for Wayne Largo. Yes, he is a Federal agent, but he swears the similarity stops there. He's even been asked a couple of times to sign copies! I love watching him squirm when that happens.

My publisher . . . Bell Bridge Books has been awesome to work with. They care, they help, they beat me up, they let me cry on their collective shoulders, which I have done.

The Writing Well . . . my online international critique group. They've backed me, corrected me, applauded me, and consoled me along this ride, which has taken over a decade to achieve. They continue to be my compass, and they've done wonders for both Slade and me.

The Columbia I Writing Group . . . my local group. They make me read my work aloud and take feedback, no matter how hard it hurts. And they taught me about Bogart's, and bacon-cheese/jalapeno French fries, because writers have to eat after critiquing.

Roo . . . the mighty dachshund who graced our lives a year ago, putting such a spring back into my step. Roo, who keeps me company at my feet, nudging and barking at me when it's time to take a break.

I could go on and on, but instead, I'll offer the following as thanks to you all . . .

(AND, watch for Palmetto Poison, the third Carolina Slade book, in early 2014.)
