Written art doesn’t have to be in the form of a book to be accessible or distributed by a major publisher in order to be valuable. Some of the best pieces of art come from the hearts of writers who are empowered to deeply express themselves – and then given a pathway to connect with readers.
Little Written Art is a new project that provides an exciting opportunity to create tiny pieces of writing and have
them distributed to readers across the country.
A small but mighty project.
Here’s how the project works – and how it benefits writers!
- Writers complete an interactive “Writer’s Packet” that guides them step-by-step through the (short) creation
process.
- Completed works of written art are then returned to Little Written Art, where they are placed in a beautiful display folder and sent along with other original pieces of art to Little Free Libraries across the United States.
- The written art is made available to readers in the library’s community, providing access to unique writing and insights.
Through this process, the Little Written Art project taps the creative power of writers, lifts writers up, and increases access to written art –– one little piece of writing at a time.
One of
the best parts is that writers can participate on the side, meaning that they don’t have to stop what they’re already working on to participate. In a few hours, you’ll have a piece (or two) of written art completed and ready to contribute. This offers a deep sense of satisfaction by having completed a work of writing… while doing something beneficial and impactful.
Off to an exciting start.
Writers across the country (and
around the world) are submitting pieces of written art, and the first batches of completed written art were sent out this week. Little Written Art is currently in 40 Little Free Libraries across 22 states – and growing every day.
There is more demand!
If you are interested in creating and contributing to the project, writers are welcome to purchase the writer’s packet and get started.
You’re also invited to follow along to receive updates and stories of the impact this small but mighty project makes in the weeks and months to come.
